OMET has received the prize “FTA Innovation Award 2008” in Dallas thanks to the new X-Flex line. In particular, the judges were amazed with the maximum production flexibility and efficiency.
The press, which allows using multiple print typologies, processes substrates of different thicknesses and provides for a remarkable reduction of setup times and waste.
Its innovative capacity is also linked to the presence of the pre-register and machine automatic control system Vision .
Hubei Three Golden Gorges Printing Co, an Asian customer of OMET's, won the Gold Award for the entry “Narrow Web-Paper (Color)”, at the AFTA Print Award 2007, the most prestigious prize in the sector of flexographic print on packaging. The company leading the cigarette packaging sector obtained the award using the in-line VaryFlex. The awarded product was a “soft-pack” of Chinese tobacco made combining very complex special processes on the OMET Super-VaryFlex lines provided with silk-screen, flexo, hot-foil units and hologram application.
The prize represents an award to the constant commitment in research, which has always been a feature characterising OMET, and constitutes a tangible sign of the value of the investment in Asia, where the firm is present with a branch company and a showroom in Shangai.

The prize that every year crowns the best print machine for the tobacco industry was given to OMET's Varyflex. The version that made OMET winning the award is full equipped with accessories: 10 print units, 2 in-line die-cutting stations and the possibility to interchange the flexographic units with rotogravure or silk-screen units, which can be inserted in-line in the print sequence.
In a sector like graphic industry, where top flexibility and high quality are key, a machine shall be able to be widened or changed each time it is needed.
Omet's VaryFlex has been able to distinguish itself from the competition exactly for its extraordinary plus offer: flexo print with UV inks, water, solvent and relevant curing systems; silk-screen, print units, rotogravure, hot foil, cold foil; reverse print, ink-jet print; changeable print formats; fly cutting unit; vision system.
Moreover, the possibility offered by OMET to make the products unique and difficultly imitable - thanks to the use of holograms directly in the print phase - was decisive in order to win the prize.
